OGUCHI ONYEWU
FOUNDER / CEO
Oguchi became a professional athlete in 2002 and has dedicated himself to living a strong and healthy lifestyle. Growing up in a highly athletic family motivated him to push harder to stand out. His exposure to world-class physical therapists and performance coaches deepened his understanding of the human body’s capabilities. After playing professional soccer in seven countries and experiencing elite health practices, he founded ONYX Elite. With a team of nationally recognized fitness coaches, ONYX Elite is focused on helping clients reach peak performance and become the best version of themselves.

CHRIS GORRES
LEAD TRAINER / COO
Chris is a former high school and college athlete who played football at Cornell University before becoming a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He continues to build on his education and is known for his expertise in speed, power, strength, injury prevention, functional training, and rehabilitation. Chris has trained athletes across various sports and levels, including professionals from the NFL, MLB, US Soccer, and MLS. He is passionate about using his knowledge and experience to help every client improve and reach their highest potential.

SARAH MATHIS
DIRECTOR OF performance & OPERATIONS
Sarah played collegiate soccer at Longwood University before beginning a career in fitness and wellness. With over 15 years of experience, she has managed and coached in multiple facilities, developing staff and fostering positive, client-focused environments. She has worked with clients ranging from first-time gym-goers to competitive athletes, helping them improve performance, build confidence, and create sustainable habits. Sarah is passionate about mentoring fitness professionals and teaching group conditioning, always striving to support others on their wellness journey. She is a nationally certified Personal Trainer (NCSF).

JULIO GARCIA
PERFORMANCE COACH
Julio is a Performance Coach dedicated to helping people unlock their full potential through strength, conditioning, and smart training. He holds a Master’s in Exercise Science from Concordia University Chicago and a Bachelor’s in Health, Kinesiology, and Leisure Studies from Baylor University. Julio is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), and NASM Personal Trainer. He takes an evidence-based approach to building strength, improving movement, and supporting long-term performance. Outside of coaching, Julio enjoys training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA.

TRISTON SHEEKO
PERFORMANCE COACH
Triston graduated from Cosby High School in 2017, where he played basketball and golf. He continued his basketball career at Pfeiffer University before transferring to Longwood University in 2019. At Longwood, he was a founding member and treasurer of the Men’s Club Basketball team and also practiced with the Women’s Basketball team. He earned his B.S. in Kinesiology and later became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Triston is passionate about athletic performance and uses his experience as a student-athlete to help others reach their fitness goals.

DR. AARON WANG
physical therapist
Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from The Ohio State University, where he also managed personal training and served as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Ohio State Diving Club, working with Team USA athletes. He went on to complete his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Emory University, gaining experience with NFL, MLB, and NBA players during internships at EXOS. Following graduation, he completed a Sports Residency at the University of Delaware, where he taught in the nation’s top-ranked DPT program and worked with Division I teams across multiple sports. With expertise in both performance and rehabilitation, Aaron develops holistic, individualized plans to help athletes and clients of all levels recover, prevent injuries, and reach peak performance.

KYLE RUGG
PERFORMANCE COACH
Kyle is a military veteran and NASM-Certified Personal Trainer who brings discipline, accountability, and high energy to the training floor at ONYX. His background spans strength training, performance coaching, and group fitness, giving him a well-rounded approach to helping clients build strength, improve movement, and achieve measurable results. Kyle is known for creating high-performance environments where athletes and everyday professionals are pushed to reach their full potential. Whether working with competitive athletes, runners, or individuals looking to elevate their fitness, Kyle is passionate about delivering training experiences that challenge clients to embrace the process and become the best version of themselves.

DEVYN COLES
PERFORMANCE COACH
A Highland Springs native, Devyn Coles brings his deep passion for athletic performance and leadership both on and off the field. A former football standout at Highland Springs High School, Devyn went on to play collegiately at Norfolk State University and James Madison University, where he developed a strong foundation in strength, conditioning, and discipline.Now back where it all began, Devyn continues to coach football at Highland Springs and uses his experience to mentor the next generation of athletes at ONYX Elite. As a certified NASM personal trainer, he focuses on building explosive strength, proper movement mechanics, and the mental toughness required to compete at the next level. Devyn’s hands-on coaching style and firsthand knowledge of elite competition make him an invaluable resource for athletes looking to elevate their game.
